Now I don’t often say this about books, but this one changed me in ways I never expected. I haven’t read a book that so radically transformed the way I thought about food. It challenged my beliefs and opened my eyes to a whole new perspective on what I consume and the processes in which my food is made. The concepts presented were thought-provoking, and it wasn’t an easy listen by any stretch of the imagination. I found the fact that Chris was narating this book made the content hit just a bit harder. I found myself reevaluating my choices and habits when it comes to food, and it sparked a deep introspection about the impact of our eating habits on our health and the environment.

It’s a book that lingers in your mind and prompts you to question the status quo, even though we still have to eat regardless of the new insights gained. My supermarket shop take’s significantly longer and cost’s a little more.

I am lucky enough to be able to afford a complete change in the way I eat foods and my current habits. I haven’t cut out UPF completely, but I have significantly reduced the amount I am eating, and I have practically removed them all from the house. This change has cost me in other ways, it takes more time to cook every meal from scratch and I have reduced my reliance on frozen foods.

There was a lot of discussion on how corporations are to blame for this, and it felt like there was a lot of talk about greed in relation to these companies, which is a major concern. It’s also important to note their ability to feed an ever-growing population.

Have you read this book? if so let me know your thoughts in the comments?

A deep dive into the world of ultra-processed food: exploring the science, economics, history, and production behind it.

We have entered a new ‘age of eating’ where most of our calories come from an entirely novel set of substances called Ultra-Processed Food, food which is industrially processed and designed and marketed to be addictive. But do we really know what it’s doing to our bodies?

Join Chris in his travels through the world of food science and a UPF diet to discover what’s really going on. Find out why exercise and willpower can’t save us, and what UPF is really doing to our bodies, our health, our weight, and the planet (hint: nothing good).

For too long we’ve been told we just need to make different choices, when really we’re living in a food environment that makes it nigh-on impossible. So this is a book about our rights. The right to know what we eat and what it does to our bodies and the right to good, affordable food.
